Wow - it has been forever since I posted anything on this blog. I wonder if any of my friends still stop in to see what is going on in my life.

Let's see where to begin...I suppose it would be good to note that I have been happily planning my wedding for this coming December. Mike, whom I started dating just before my last post, proposed in January 2005 and we will be married before the end of this year. I am still very happy with the same job and will for the first time in my life get to work for a third year in the same school. Currently, I am in my second summer of graduate school seeking a master's degree in music education. I love my classes and have found the courses to be very helpful in what I do at school.

Since it is late, and I doubt anyone is actually reading my blog, I will stop for tonight.

Life is Insane

Life is insane...trying to balance 2 jobs, a new house and a new relationship are about ready to kill me. I have been very happy with 3 of the 4, but it is the time that the one I'm not so happy with has been taking that is making my life insane. My car is also adding to the insanity of my life.

Today, as I left for school at 6:30 AM, I decided to set the trip meter and see how far I drive on a day that I go to both of my jobs. When I pulled into my driveway at 9:10 PM, the trip meter read 84.9 miles. I did nothing other than go from home to school to lesson and home again. I also noticed that I had filled my car with gas on Tuesday around 4:00 and was down to 1/4 of a tank when I got home today...about 190 miles in the past few days....I had the lesson run yesterday too.

My car is giving me a confussing alert this week. On Tuesday as I got gas, my oil pressure gague decided to stop working. I was headed for an oil change after getting gas and they assured me that I had oil pressure, but that my gague wasn't working. I am starting to wonder if I should get a different car before I have another sensor or problem. Since turning 75,000 miles in late November, I have had a tire go flat, the transmission sensor go and now the oil pressure sensor. I love my car, but I don't want to dump a ton of money into it.

The new house is wonderful. Every week, I am attempting to get something more accomplished around here. I think I will actually get to finally sleep in MY bedroom tonight. I have sheets on my bed and it is REALLY tall and fluffy. The presence of my friends here a lot, or at least Mike being over a lot, makes it definately feel like home.

Mike and I are continuing to go strong. I can honestly say that we should have taken the chance on love a long time ago. Mike is teaching me to enjoy the simple things in life. We have been spending a lot of time talking and playing games to just get to spend time together. Over the weekend, he was here just spending time with me as I worked on things around the house. He also felt the need to take a nap on the floor of the bedroom as I was vaccuming before the new bed was delivered. He did roll over when I needed to vaccum where he was...I was a little annoyed but also found it very cute that he was trying to get my attention away from being a responsible homeowner.

I love my job. I think I have said that everytime I mention work. School is going very well for me, and I have really found a place that I feel like I can grow professionally.

As for the second job, I am seriously considering giving myself the birthday present of quitting at the end of April. I want to see my students through contest & festival season, but I have personal and professional commitments which are already making it impossible to teach in May anyhow and in June I want to start my masters degree.

That is all for now. I'm off to dream land in my new bed.

I Do Exist

Hi there! I doubt anyone actually still reads this since I am delinquint at posting on here most of the time.

As I glanced back at my last post, I can say that at least number 3 is holding true so far. I have been spending most of my free time with Mike rather than playing online with my blog and other fun web pages. Some of my closer friends know, Mike and I have been very good friends for over 11 years and went to prom together in high school. We have decided to give dating a go now as adults and it seems to be making both of us smile and laugh a lot. I strongly recommend dating your best friend if you can.

Life with the house has kept me busy as well. I am still working on unboxing stuff in one room and have pretty much settled into the other spaces. The master bathroom has also given me a lesson in the strange places water will go. New Years Day saw water from the bathtub in the laundry room. Luckily I didn't destroy much of anything with the water, and the builder is fixing it all on the 30-day walk through list.

Nothing more to post. Must go update grades and get some sleep.

Love to all.

Friday Five

Okay, I know it is Tuesday, but I haven't blogged in weeks. Here is the Friday Five for this week.

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?

There have been may big accomplishments this year. The two biggest have been landing the job of my dreams and purchasing my first home without the help of my parents or anyone else.

2. What was your biggest disappointment?

It was a major disappointment at the time, but had this not happened, I couldn't have had my accomplishments. Losing my job and the program I was starting in Beach Park put a major blow on my self esteem and confidence in April. Now that I look back, there were lessons learned from that job and it was the right time for me to move on to where I am today.

3. What do you hope the new year brings?

I hope the new year brings a little less stress and opportunities to share romantic moments with someone special.

4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?

Yes. I want to continue to lose weight...about 40 to 60 more pounds should do the job for my health. I already lost about 30 since I moved home with my parents in August, so I know I can do it. I also want to begin my master's degree this summer so that I have it finished by the time I am 30.

5. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?

I am going to have Mike, Amanda & Marty over for dinner at my house on New Years. We have all been spending a lot of time together, and this is a little way that I can thank Mike and Amanda for their hours of help with the decorating and moving process.

Homeownership

Wow. Owning my own home and the holidays have definately made life busy the past few weeks.

I survived the madness of closing on my house and presenting my winter concert in the same day. I moved into my house on December 23, but didn't sleep there until Dec. 26 due to holiday madness at my parents house.

Now, I sit here in my house, getting ready to paint bathrooms, finish unboxing what I can for now and throw a small dinner party for my friends on New Years Eve. I love my house, but I am not a big fan of Home Depot. I tried to get my garage door opener from them, but their installer was not as easy to reach as they said they would be and then wanted me to wait 2 weeks, after having waited a week to talk to them, to get the opener installed. I am going to go someplace else and buy one. I know enough guys who can put that up for me.
